The Alta Vista Public Library is a proud Award Recipient of a $3000 grant through the Libraries Transforming Communities Program  (Round 2) from the American Library Association.  This Grant provided funding for former Library Director Parveen Karim to attend virtual classes to learn skills necessary to lead Community Conversations. The purpose of these coversations was to identify a community betterment need and approve a project to address that need with this grant money.

After completing her course work, Mrs. Karim lead two Community Conversations, one on Sept, 28, 2021, and the other on Oct. 10, 2021, that lead to the approval of a project to install a new automatic door opener on the main entrance door of the Alta Vista Public Library.

The new automatic door opener was installed and made operational at the beginning of December 2021.  This will allow easier access to the library building by those with disablitlies and others who due to advancing age struggled with our heavy entrance door.

The Alta Vista Community thanks the ALA and the Libraries Transform Communities Program funders for their generous support!
